Wiccan Whirlpool :: Rantings and ravings of a mom, wife, and Wiccan minister

Wiccan Whirlpool

Psycho season at work.

December 31st, 2006

Unbelievable!  I would never have imagined that leaving a bank where I’ve been robbed twice for an office job with an established school photographer would involve more stress.  It was supposed to be low key and fun, with better hours and more money.   2/4?  I guess that would reduce nicely to 1/2, wouldn’t it.  It’s more money, and the people that I work with are certainly fun–not that my bank family wasn’t fun, mind you.  But the hours went insane, and I had more people screaming at me on the phone than I thought possible.  I did somehow gain the power to ruin both Christmas and Hannuka, so I feel rather superhero-like, though I’m not sure what a good name would be.  The Cheerliminator or something, I suppose.  And all over school pictures.  PLEASE!!  I wish my life was so easy and stress free that not having my kids school pictures to give as gifts and send in cards would ruin my perfect holiday.  I wish I had the leisure of being a spoiled housewife with nothing better to do than worry about where my $20 photos were and call every day threatening lawsuits between my screaming sobs.  I wish I was so ignorant that I thought I knew everyone’s job better than they, and I wish I had the balls to complain about the quality of a school picture and the skill of a photographer when I didn’t bother to dress my kid up or comb his hair–and said photographer had 300 other kids to photograph and two hours to do it.  People are so flipping unbelievable!

“I’d have been better off at Sears!!”

“Well, yes, you would have.”

“WHAT?”

“It’s a school pitcure ma’am AND you saw a proof in advance of your order.  What did you expect?”

“I paid good money for these pictures!”

“You paid $15 and no sitting fee for a 45 second shot.  You did not sit with a portrait studio.”

“But I paid good money for these pictures! You have ruined my Christmas and I want a refund.”

“No.”

Thus was my life from November to the end of December.  Hopefully next year will run a little more smoothly.
